Why Etrify

Etrify is a climate-tech social enterprise on a mission to make carbon transparency the norm in business. We help small businesses save time, money and stress by offering affordable carbon footprinting services through our Carbon Sprint®.

Our Story (so far)...

2020: Social platform

Two friends who knew nothing about business started a business. No product, no revenue, just an ambition to do something good for the world. Our first idea was a social media platform for sustainability.

We spent 8 months coding our MVP: a carbon calculator for home and travel. The term “eco trace project” was thrown around, eventually leading to the name Etrify (eco trace ify).

2021: The pivot

We released an MVP no one used (well, apart from our parents). We spent months trying to fundraise pre-seed and raised nothing.

In the summer of 2021 it was back to the drawing board to figure out Etrify v2. We spent 6 months on user research, product and customer discovery, and prototyping solutions.

2022: Carbon Sprint®

We launched our Carbon Sprint® to help small businesses calculate their carbon footprint, with a goal of achieving real impact through carbon reduction.

In the later half of the year, we'll start back on R&D and innovation, looking at how we can scale the Sprint. Watch this space 👀 .

who we are

Etrify was founded by two friends who met at the University of Exeter: Jason Hale and Ross Adolph. Meet the team on a mission to make carbon transparency the norm in business:

Jason Headshot
Jason Hale, Co-founder

Jason has a Masters in Physics from the University of Exeter. His career started out in data engineering where he has worked at Mars for over two years, and he has strong experience in data ingestion, encryption and compliance.

He has recently found a new interest in product marketing and product management, where most of his responsibilities for Etrify lie. In his spare time, he enjoys music, djing, walking, running, cooking and bread-making.

Ross Headshot
Ross Adolph, Co-founder

Ross also has a Masters in Physics from the University of Exeter, and is in charge of the technical side of Etrify. He has worked as a data engineer at Jisc for the past three years, focusing heavily on cloud infrastructure, data processing and devops.

Prior to Jisc, he worked as a geospatial Data Analyst at Landmark. In his spare time, he enjoys playing squash, cooking, rugby, film and socialising with friends.
